Raising Money
with a Letter Writing Campaign

Letter writing is the most tried and true method in raising funds for your personal campaign. The personalization, the directness and the endless capacity for heart-warming stories make this the most reliable method. The key is to write an amazing letter with your heart and mail them out early!

10 Steps to an Effective Letter

Create a list of everyone you know. Don't forget those you write checks to such as doctors, lawyers, accountants, insurance agent, etc.

Directly state the goal of the letter (to raise funds for Friendship Circle!)

Be proactive and positive! Don't diminish your request by apologizing or by saying something similar to 'I hope you can donate.'

Hand address the outside envelopes.

Hand-sign each letter with a short personal note to those you don't see regularly.

If you are a volunteer, include information on a child you have met or an experience you had while at Friendship Circle.

Include a pre-paid return envelope with your donation card to make it easy to send a donation to Friendship Circle in your honor.

Include your personal Friendship Walk web address when you register make sure to create a personal walk or team address for example www.friendshipwalk.org/teamdave.

State that all donations are 100% tax deductible and that 100% of the profit goes towards Friendship Circle?s mission.

Most importantly: put your heart into it! Share a personal story and tell them why Friendship Circle is important to you. When you exude passion, others can feel it too!
